Adopt a Project

What's a Project Tile?

A project tile is one specific, manageable piece of the greater whole. Each tile represents a particular project that an individual or a group can “adopt” and fund– a project that represents one of the most urgent, most important needs of our orphanage partners.

The great thing about project tiles is that they make it crystal clear where your donation will be going, and much easier to choose the areas of focus that mean the most to you.

Everyone who adopts a project tile can rest assured that 100% of their contribution will go to a project that really matters right now— not to overhead, not to other projects, just the one specific project outlined in the project tile.

Product Details

Jorge and Ely came back to Rancho 6 years ago after feeling compelled to help the orphanage where they were both raised and met over 20 years ago. They are now the Orphanage Directors and their living space is regularly flooded during the rainy seasons. Having a home where they are protected from the elements should be a given considering all they’ve given to the orphanage and the 85 children who live there, in addition to their own 9 kids, 6 of whom are adopted.

When discussing building a new home for them, they suggested co-locating it with a house for the older college-age children who need a place to live as they transition into productive adulthood and attend University. Having Jorge and Ely be the house parents for these college students helps provide a home support structure and continue mentoring and supporting the students as they begin adulthood.

The foundation has been set and some block has been laid. Several milestone projects are still needed, including laying the remainder of the block, pouring the floor of the second story, roof, interior finish work, plumbing, electrical work, and procuring appliances.

Project Timeline

The college students begin classes in the fall of 2020. Government policy discourages children past age 18 from staying at an orphanage, so a special area for them needs to be established quickly.

Hooray! This project tile has been adopted!
