HISTORY

In the beginning of 2007, A Child's Hope Foundation was contacted by Anne Marie "Sun Joo" Allred, who had recently returned from a visit to South Korea and the orphanage she was adopted from. Being adopted by a wonderful family in Hawaii in 1966, this was the first time Anne Marie had returned to the land where she was born.

After Anne Marie's return to the U.S., she and her family decided that they wanted to do something meaningful to help the children in the orphanage where she was born, as well as a few other orphanages she visited. This desire led her to A Child's Hope Foundation where a partnership was formed to benefit these children in South Korea.

OUTLOOK

Part of the mission of A Child's Hope Foundation is to "Coordinate and Supply needed Resources to Orphans Throughout the World." As the project coordinator, Anne Marie spearheaded efforts to raise funds which provided such supplies as: an indoor play set, scholastic tools (computers, books, writing materials, math manipulative, and etc.), bedding, washers and dryers, refrigerators, humidifiers, microwaves, and baby supplies (lotions, wipes, diapers, shampoos, and other toiletries).

  Orphaned Children in South Korea

A Child's Hope Foundation traveled with Anne Marie to South Korea in June 2007 to purchase and distribute supplies to three orphanages and several orphaned children in foster care. Additionally we focused efforts on building relationships with various orphanage directors and learning more about opportunities to promote and facilitate adoptions of children in South Korea. We are currently working to create an adoption program in South Korea. You can see photos of this trip under Multimedia - Photos.
