SUPPORT BUENA VIDA ORPHANAGE

Volunteers who have been to Casa Hogar Buena Vida as part of a work project with A Child's Hope Foundation understand why the children at that orphanage hold a special place in our hearts. We recognize the love behind the work that Gabriel and Meche Diego put forth each day for their orphanage's children. In an effort to support Buena Vida beyond providing materials and free labor for construction, we are offering you the chance to give a monthly donation specifically for Buena Vida. This money will be given to Gabriel and Meche to purchase food and other needed supplies.

If you would like to donate a different amount on a monthly basis, please contact us and we will happily set that up for you!

WHY THE KIDS AT BUENA VIDA NEED YOUR HELP

Please read the following from Linda de Alba, one of our volunteers who fell in love with the Buena Vida kids on our most recent work project trip, August 2011:

Dear Volunteers,

Like you, I too fell in love with the kids at Buena Vida during our August trip. I saw that what the children really seemed to enjoy was having our company, our attention, our love, and did they ever enjoy that fish taco dinner we had? They were hungry!

After our dinner with the kids I had the opportunity to speak at length with Gabriel and Meche, the administrators, and it became evident that they truly love the kids and are fully devoted to caring for them as best as they can. Gabriel, Meche and I keep in touch via e-mail at least once a week. In a recent message, they shared with me that Buena Vida has lost the support of a local group that used to provide the funds to feed the kids. Starting this month, the group is no longer able to donate the $350 to feed the kids. Thinking of these kids hungry and unhappy is a very painful feeling.

Although $350 is a relatively large sum of money for one person to donate on a monthly basis, perhaps we could all come together to help the kids. If each one of us donated $10 or $15 a month, we could raise the $350 that Buena Vida has recently lost. To get things started, I have signed up for a monthly donation of $25 through A Child's Hope Foundation, and I invite you to please sign up for a monthly donation as well. I know that it can be difficult to find the money, but I will be cutting out my twice-a-week cupcake treat, which saves $28 each month. It was a simple decision to cut out my sugary treat to feed hungry kids. If you find a similar solution to helping Buena Vida, please know that Gabriel, Meche, the kids and myself will THANK YOU very, very much!

Please know that our visit and interaction with them meant more to those kids than you can ever imagine. I will be back this coming November with my husband and hope to see you there too!

Yours,

Linda

Thank you to those who already send a monthly donation specified for Buena Vida as well as those who have sent one-time donations. Currently, $50 is earmarked by donors each month to this orphanage, and we know that Linda's goal of $350 each month is easily viable. Simply select one of the above buttons to choose the amount you wish to give, and you will be linked to PayPal to initiate a monthly donation subscription.

FAQs
Q:|Why should I donate through A Child's Hope Foundation rather than directly to Casa Hogar Buena Vida?
A:|Buena Vida isn't a registered charity in the United States, so they are unable to provide tax deductible receipts for donations.

Q:|How does Buena Vida receive my donation?
A:|A Child's Hope Foundation will deliver cash to Gabriel Diego, Buena Vida's director, each time we take a group of volunteers to Mexico.

At current donation levels (less than $100 per month), it does not make sense to mail checks to Buena Vida. Gabriel must cross the border into the U.S. to receive checks in the mail. However, if monthly donations yield a couple hundred dollars or more, A Child's Hope Foundation will mail a check to Gabriel every month or twice a month, in addition to hand delivering cash when we are in Mexico.

Q:|How do I specify my donation for Buena Vida?
A:|When you click a donation button from this "Support Buena Vida" web page, you will be linked to a PayPal donation website. Using this page's link automatically denotes your donation with the restriction that it be given to Buena Vida Orphanage.
TAX BENEFITS
In addition to helping the children, the full amount of your donation is eligible for a charitable tax deduction if you pay taxes to the United States. A Child's Hope Foundation is recognized as a tax-exempt public charitable organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (click here to see our recognition letter from the IRS). For more information about using your donation as a charitable tax deduction, please contact a tax attorney or accountant.
