Q:|Which countries do you offer adoptions from? |
| A:|We have an adoption program in Haiti, but we are not currently accepting new applicants at this time. To learn about the countries where we are laying the groundwork for additional adoption orphanages, please click on Global Endeavors. |
| Q:|Is A Child's Hope Foundation an adoption agency? |
| A:|No, we are not an adoption agency, rather we are a humanitarian relief organization, but we partner with adoption agencies that meet our criteria and standards to place children into families. The adoption orphanages work with the local governmental agencies to prepare the children for adoptions by processing all legal work and medical care. |
| Q:|How much does it cost to adopt? |
| A:|Fees vary by country program (travel costs, in-country fees, document processing). Your adoption agency can illustrate the different fees based on their programs. |
| Q:|How long does it take to adopt a child internationally? |
| A:|The length of a wait for a child from Haiti is usually around 12 months. There is no way to predict exactly the length of the wait at each stage. To some extent, this depends upon the general availability of children and how long the legal processing takes in the foreign country. The length of time necessary for processing varies due to bureaucratic procedures, changes in laws, political stability, etc. In addition, it is important to realize that your specifications can influence how long you have to wait for a child: the more particular you are about age, sex, health background and general history, the longer you may have to wait. |
| Q:|How do I adopt a child? |
| A:|We have created a brochure called the 10 steps to Adoption which details the process. Once you have decided to adopt, one of the first steps will be to select an adoption agency who will guide you through the process. A Child's Hope Foundation provides a list of the approved adoption agencies that have met our standards and are licensed in the respective countries. There may be other agencies we are not yet aware of that may also qualify. |
| Q:|Do you have sibling groups? |
| A:|We do have sibling groups available at times. It is our policy that sibling groups stay together. |

Q:|Can we adopt more than one child at a time? Does it cost less? |
| A:|Upon approval, you may adopt more than one child at a time. There are several fees that are not duplicated, including the home study fee, your passport and visa fees, and travel and lodging costs. There are other fees that have to be paid per child, such as program in-country fees, medical examinations, etc. |
| Q:|What are the ages of children available for adoption? |
| A:|We find children who meet the age and gender adoptive parents specify, then bring them under our care once medical tests have been completed and they are matched with those parents. |
| Q:|Do we need to travel out of country to pick up our child after all paperwork is processed? |
| A:|Except for rare occasions, you will need to travel to the country from which you are adopting to pick up your child. |
