RETURNING TO KOREA

Anne Marie "Sun Joo" Allred Holding an Orphaned Girl |
 |
In the beginning of 2007, A Child's Hope Foundation was contacted by Anne Marie "Sun Joo" Allred, who had recently returned from a visit to South Korea and the orphanage she was adopted from. Having been adopted by a wonderful family in Hawaii in 1966, this was the first time Anne Marie had returned to the land where she was born.
After Anne Marie's return to the U.S., she and her family decided that they wanted to do something meaningful to help the children in the orphanage where she was born, as well as a few other orphanages she visited. This desire led her to A Child's Hope Foundation where a partnership was formed to benefit these children in South Korea.

Children from the Young-Shin Won Orphanage |
 |
Thanks to the tireless efforts of Anne Marie, nearly $30,000 was raised to purchase supplies for three orphanages as well as for several orphans in foster care.
As a result of the donations for this project we were able to provide such supplies as: an outdoor play set, scholastic tools (computers, books, writing materials, math manipulative, and etc.), bedding, washers and dryers, refrigerators, air conditioning units, humidifiers, microwaves, and baby supplies (lotions, wipes, diapers, shampoos, and other toiletries). Carl Mackay traveled on behalf of the Foundation with Anne Marie and her daughter to present the donations and build relationships with government and orphanage leaders.
Anne Marie said, "After visiting the Haeng-bok Won last year, I had a great desire to 'Give Back' to these wonderful people who continue to care for orphaned children - especially those with handicaps and other disabilities. Each of the orphanages was blessed in different ways. The Haeng-bok Won appreciated the supplies that directly blessed the children and the Young-Shin Won greatly appreciated the outdoor play set. The beauty of this Humanitarian Endeavor is that all the people involved are greatly blessed! We were able to raise nearly $30,000 thanks to the generosity of many! The impact is inexplicable, and the joy is great!"

GOLF TOURNEY REPORT
Thanks to our good friends at Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, the Second Annual Charity Golf Tournament & Dinner Gala was a resounding success. The golfers at the tournament had a great time and the weather was perfect. |

LaVell Edwards, Jana and Perry Brätt (President of ACHF) |
 |
LaVell Edwards took some time at dinner and reminisced with the crowd about his experiences coaching BYU during the "Glory Years." Jason Hewlett provided the entertainment doing celebrity impersonations and kept everybody laughing. Over 200 people were involved in the tournament and the dinner and we were able to raise close to $15,000 as a result. Without the many local businesses and individuals who served as sponsors, as well as those who volunteered at the event, the day could not have been a success. Thank you to our sponsors and especially to Northwestern Mutual Financial Network! |
