HE NEVER STOPS SMILING |
|

|
The Demorest Family |
 |
Jaxon Demorest was born Peguy Paul on November 15, 2003 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti and was abandoned at a hospital there. In December of 2005, Jaxon was adopted by his new family. Since that time he has quickly adapted to family life. His mother, Mary, shares some of her observations about how he is doing 18 months after coming home.
Jaxon is a very kind boy who loves all people and he never stops smiling. He is a very happy child and has a great love for life. He really enjoys playing with all of the neighborhood children. He is a very social little boy who is always asking to play with his friends.
One of Jaxon's favorite activities is playing sports, and he loves to throw balls and play soccer. One of the things he looks forward to most is going to the Real Salt Lake soccer games with his dad, and he really gets into cheering the team along.
Jaxon’s language skills also continue to improve every day. He communicates extremely well, and he loves to answer the phone when it rings. He has always been so loved and accepted by all of our immediate and extended family since he arrived. His bond with our family is very strong. He loves visiting his grandparents and also loves to call and talk to them on the phone. Jaxon also enjoys playing with his cousins. He shares an especially close bond with his cousin Tyson, who is 2 years older and was also adopted. |

Jaxon and Bailey |
 |
Jaxon is a great older brother to Bailey. He is always trying to take care of Bailey by entertaining him and comforting him when he cries. They love throwing balls back and forth and playing with their cars and trains together. They are the best of friends and love each other very much. Jaxon is such a joy! We are grateful every day that he is a part of our family, and we could not love him more. |

I'M FINALLY FLYING
Tamar and Katrina Pedersen composed and recorded a beautiful song about Miguel (who was orphaned) and his transformation through his experience playing on a swing with a volunteer caregiver in Haiti. They titled the song "Now I Can Fly" and they share how they came to write the song. |

We first heard about Miguel's story through our daughter, Natasha. Natasha has always had a soft spot in her heart for orphans, and from a young age she started making pencil sketches of children in need. When she heard Miguel's story she called us in tears, and shared his experience with us. She told us how Miguel and his sister had tragically lost their parents and had ended up in an orphanage in Haiti. Natasha's husband also happens to be from Haiti, which brought Miguel's story even closer to home.
Four year old Miguel and his little sister Julise saw their parents killed by robbers, and the children were definitely tramautized by the experience.
Miguel would occasionally speak in response to a question, but for weeks no one
could get him to smile. Natasha related that someone had donated a swing set to the orphanage, but Miguel had never been on a swing and was too small to get up on his own. Finally, a volunteer caregiver helped him on the swing, and as he flew toward the sky he started smiling, then giggling, and then he started shouting over and over in Creole, "Thank you Jesus, I'm finally flying." Miguel's healing started there and he and his sister became happy children and are now living with their adoptive family in Pennsylvania. |

Miguel on the Swings |
 |
My wife and I are musicians, and when we heard this story we decided that it needed to be put to music. We have a soft spot in our heart for adopted children, as two of our own children are adopted. We hope that this song can be used as a tool to help raise funds to further the cause of helping little children like Miguel.
To listen to this song and see the photos of Miguel we have put to the song, visit Multimedia - Videos. Tamar and Katrina are adoptive parents and have written a beautiful song about adoption called "His Other Mother" which you can listen to at their web site. |
