UKRAINIAN ORPHANAGE BENEFIT CONCERT

Cherie Call, David Glen Hatch, Ray Smith, Jenny Oaks Baker

Dear friends,

On Saturday, December 1, 2007 at 7:00 p.m., A Child’s Hope Foundation will host a benefit concert in the Provo Tabernacle (Provo, Utah, USA) to raise money to purchase a van for a family-oriented orphanage in Kiev, Ukraine. We have the goal of filling up the tabernacle and raising $20,000. All of the concert’s proceeds will go towards this orphanage.

The concert will include several renowned performers that you won’t want to miss, such as violinist Jenny Oaks Baker, former member of the National Symphony, David Glen Hatch, concert pianist, singer and songwriter Cherie Call, the 2002 Olympic Children's Choir "One Voice," brass ensemble "Gabriel," soprano Jennifer Welch-Babidge, and a jazz trio including Bob Bailey, former jazz pianist on the Dean Martin Show, and Ray Smith, award winning BYU jazz director. You can hear all of these great musicians for just $10 and for only $5 if you are a student!

Some of the Children and Caregivers at the Krushelnitsky Family-Oriented Orphanage

The Ukrainian couple running this orphanage, Edward and his wife Lubov, are caring and dedicated individuals who have dreamed for years of having the chance to open an orphanage. With two teenage daughters of their own, the family unitedly decided to help stop the suffering of orphans they saw begging in the street and struggling in poorly-funded Ukrainian orphanages. Last year they were finally able to raise enough money to buy a building out in the countryside. They turned the building into a family-oriented orphanage and started bringing in young children and babies to raise them as their own (as they will only bring in up to 10 children so they can effectively raise them to adulthood).

Now, however, the Krushelnitsky's face the daunting task of transporting the entire family to educational, social, community and church events. Without a van they are required to take a train and then a trolley-bus (switching routes several times) to Kiev for some of these events, a two-hour trip each way. This method of travel is very difficult for anyone but especially the small children. A van would make the trip faster, safer, and warmer especially in the bitter Ukrainian winters.

We really need your help. A van would mean so much for this family, as it would allow them to attend church together on Sundays and to be involved in many other educational and recreational trips. If you cannot attend the concert, you may still participate in this worthwhile cause by making a donation towards the van by clicking HERE.
